PIANO IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP
with Gregory Theisen

Presented by WSMTA (West Suburban Music Teachers Association)

Have you ever wanted to improvise music on the spot and feel confident about your creation?
Would you like to know some "tips & strategies" that will help you on your journey to be more creative?
Do you like to tinker with chords but wonder how to make up something that grooves or moves?
How often have you wanted to capture the spirit of a classical composition but are not sure where to begin?

We will go over my "Tool Box" of useful exercises that will provide you and your students "little blueprints" that will help open pathways in becoming more spontaneous. These little 'workouts' will help you:
  • Create instant musical musings
  • Make reliable sounding chord progressions
  • Play interesting left hand patterns to familiar melodies
  •  “Jazz-up” the classics!
  • Embellish the melody and make things more interesting!
You will leave with a renewed sense of music-making, from the heart without notes!
